PolyWood at the seaside, in all weathers
PolyWood outdoor and garden furniture has been installed at Warner Leisure Hotels’ Corton Coastal Village leisure complex in Lowestoft Suffolk as these beautiful photos on our facebook page will show you! Ordered in classic white, plus Aruba, Sunset Red and Lemon Yellow, the furniture is perfect for a sea breeze location as it will not rust, chip, flake or rot. And it looks so pretty and charming!
New for 2013, Warner’s Clifftop Lodge Rooms at Corton Coastal Village offer uninterrupted views of the sea with private balconies and terraces as well as landscaped garden areas. With clean, simple lines and a fresh palette, the PolyWood furniture looks the part.
We feel that PolyWood was ideal for this location as it needs to stay outside all year round and face all extremes of weather (including salt water) plus it needs to be sturdy enough not to get blown over if it gets windy. It’s also helpful that it’s so low maintenance and comfortable. It manages to deliver all this as it is not wood but recycled plastic bottles with stainless steel fittings which means it is environmentally friendly.
Why you should choose a good Fertiliser Spreader
Fertiliser spreaders will spread fertiliser, grass seed and other lawn products uniformly, quickly and efficiently. If you have a larger area to cover, a rotary spreader will save you a lot of time.
Maintaining an attractive lawn or grassed area takes not only lots of hard work, knowledge, timing and good weather but also precision. Too much is wasteful and potentially dangerous; too little won't do the job.
A good spreader can apply just the right amount of fertiliser. The key is to choose a model that has an adjustable spread rate setting to deliver the product uniformly and in accurate amounts to the left, centre and right while applying the recommended volume. Call us and we will match your requirements with one of our spreaders. Some of our products can even double up to be used with salt in the winter – now that’s good budgeting!
In a good fertiliser spreader you need strength, quality and durability – the right purchase will serve you for years to come.
Our top tip for successful knapsack spraying
One of the key advantages of a knapsack sprayer is mobility. The sprayer can go anywhere that the wearer can, enabling spraying in remote areas, or areas which are tricky to access. Another key component in easy spraying is capacity: 15 litres is a great size as it reduces the weight the user has to carry thus providing a more manageable and more comfortable option. Comfort is a real bonus especially when working with a knapsack sprayer for long periods of the day.
Our top tip for using backpack sprayers is to use a ‘constant flow valve’ to regulate the pressure at the nozzle, as this will optimise the spray pattern. It means the right amount of material is sprayed consistently saving money by eliminating over application. Chapin 62000 knapsacks come with a constant flow valve as standard.
Let us know your sprayer success stories!

Maruyama launches new Brush Cutter for spring summer 2013
We're delighted to tell you that Maruyama is launching a new power tool for spring and summer! It's the Maruyama BCV5020 50CC Semi Clearing Brush Cutter, and we're looking forward to supplying it.
Maruyama is a company which constantly develops its techniques and ideas; this latest model benefits from their fastidious strive for excellence as it exceeds the company’s already high standards of technology, performance and design.
The ultra lightweight BCV5020 has a new anti-vibration system, which uses oversized volumetric anti-vibration dampers, located in tandem on the front side and the engine side. The round shape of the vibration damper is streamline and compact for smooth operation.
It also has a new gear case. The revised-size gear wheel provides more durability than conventional brush cutters and a pressed gear blade shaft for reducing backlash. The inside gear case has improved machining accuracy, and the blade shaft angle has been revised to 60 degrees (55 is conventional for brush cutters).
The BCV5020 has a useful tool-free handle adjustment: the central wing nut enables easy adjustment without the use of tools. For transportation and space-saving storage, the handle can be rotated 90 degrees.
Maruyama NE engines are engineered with high compression ratio (7.5) resulting in higher torque and power. Optimised intake, transfer and exhaust port timing contributes to delivering optimum power and efficiency, as does the shape of the port itself. The cylinder is precision machined to exacting tolerances after the chroming process, all sharp edges around the ports are relieved to prevent piston damage, and the base of the cylinder is chamfered to allow for easy installation of the piston. The cylinder is made of chrome-impregnated aluminum, which is machined to exacting tolerances for the greatest durability and highest performance. Finally, it is polished to a smoother finish than conventional honed chrome.
Maruyama drive shafts are precision manufactured of high-carbon steel, and polished for low drag and less vibration. Six durable pre-lubricated bronze bushings support the drive shaft to reduce wear, vibration and power loss.
The Maruyama range includes hedge trimmers and brush cutters, multicutter systems, edgers, blowers, long reach hedge trimmers and accessories.
In field trials, at a Manchester BMX park in heavy rain and sunny conditions, the new model performed well. The operator reported that he “... found the machine to be very good. Replacing the line is a lot easier and quicker than other makes and models currently used. The machine started on the first pull of the pull cord almost every time, when it did not, it started on the second. The machine powered through the material being cut very impressively; sometimes other makes of brush cutter, when cutting the length of grass being cut, clog up with the grass wrapping itself round the cutting head, but this did not happen with the Maruyama.”
Our verdict? This is an excellent, hardworking power tool representing a good value, quality investment. We’re delighted to be able to handle its UK launch, and we know it will be well received by gardening and landscaping professionals.

Close to 10,000 individuals attend SALTEX each year - from groundsmen to park and leisure amenity officers, from greenkeepers to estate managers. Can you afford to miss it?

Hand Held Blowers: for grass cuttings as well as leaves
Hand Held blowers are ideal for clearing leaves, but they are also useful now - in grass cutting season - as a hand held blower can help tidy up grass cuttings from the lawn plus paths, patios etc.
Tidying up in the garden can be a very repetitive and seemingly never-ending job, more so with leaves and grass cuttings, but a hand held blower saves time and back ache, and is an alternative to raking.
We're ready to talk about the Maruyama Hand Held Blower 3100 – it offers great value, durability and performance. In short, it works hard season after season.

DMMP & CDS join forces to offer PolyWood bench to the UK cemetery market
Great news - we have appointed CDS (Cemetery Development Services Ltd) to act as our PolyWood representative to the UK cemetery market! Already, cemeteries in England and Wales have ordered our PolyWood benches.
Cemeteries and crematoriums need to be kept smart with good facilities for visitors. Benches for mourners and visitors are very important, but it’s also vital that they are always in good condition and rarely out of action due to maintenance. PolyWood is ideal for this as, being made from recycled plastic with stainless steel fittings, it does not rot, fade, flake, rust, wobble or need re-painting. It will be on duty 365 days of the year, whilst looking very smart, appropriate and sturdy.
CDS provides one of the most extensive cemetery management services available, specialising in management, planning and construction for the cemetery industry. Together we’ll be able to offer the industry something better than the wooden bench!
PolyWood benches are available in traditional teak and mahogany, which replicates the effect of stained wood, or we do have other colours.
Justin Smith of CDS feels that 'PolyWood is ideal for cemeteries as it will last for twenty years or more plus the customised engraved badges allow the bench to be used as a remembrance piece. As the bench lasts for so much longer than its wooden counterparts, it is highly suitable to be fitted with people’s memories of loved ones.' The benches can also be personalised with bronze vases for flowers.
The PolyWood Cemetery Benches will be with the CDS stand at the National Funeral Exhibition (stand L9 Hall 2) on 7, 8 & 9 June 2013 at Stoneleigh Park.

PolyWood proves how hard-wearing it is...
If you want to prove how strong, hardy, resilient and practical a piece of furniture is, there can be no better place than a very busy holiday centre on the blustery east coast?
In 2008 one of the great British seaside resort brands, Butlins, decided to use a range of PolyWood garden furniture when it opened a new public house venue at its Skegness site. The furniture is now entering its fifth, hard-working summer season. There has been no damage, no weathering and it still looks like new, in fact the manufacturers state that 30 year’s use can be expected from each piece. At DMMP we only offer you top quality, and we knew this range would please both interior designers and financial directors!
The location had a large decking area lending itself to frequent outdoor use and the need for robust, garden furniture which would be at the constant mercy of the British weather all year round. Their brief was look for stylish furniture with a seaside feel which had to be comfortable, easy to move around – but heavy enough to stay in place in the east coast winds, easily maintained, aesthetically pleasing, environmentally friendly, but not wood.
Wooden furniture could not be easily maintained, especially for use in an area which would be so heavily used.
Made from recycled plastic bottles with stainless steel fittings, not only is Poly-Wood environmentally friendly, it needs none of the maintenance of wooden furniture – no painting, no treating, no wobbly legs, no rusting hinges. Perhaps just a jet wash two or three times year to keep it clean. The finish is a very attractive wood-grain effect and there is a choice of colours available which will not fade over time.
For the environmentally aware, the cost-conscious and those who want their outdoor furniture to be enjoyed again, and again, and again Poly-Wood’s a great choice. For more information, please contact us on 0845 643 9776.
